Phriday! In Philly! Opening reception of the @mADurgency group exhibition – Celebrating Hip-Hop 50 and the photography of Jonene Lee, Chuck D’s formidable ‘bomb squad’ of visual artists, illustrators, and designers, are sharing a wide breadth of artistic approaches.
A SCINTILLATING KALEIDOSCOPE OF SNAPSHOTS CAPTIVATING ELEMENTS OF HIP-HOP CULTURE
Alongside a specially curated exhibition of Hip Hop art and photography – Seduced By Art will run a creative workshop for you to express your own connection to Hip Hop culture between 2-5pm, with the exhibition open until 6pm (and throughout August when the space is open.)
‘The Art of Visualisation – Hip Hop Edition‘ embraces and showcases the passion for Hip Hop from 10+ artists and photographers from around the globe -including some artists from Chuck D‘s mADurgency team exhibiting together in this show curated by Salfreckles – one of our founding members
Did you know Hip Hop celebrates it’s 50th year in 2023, since it was officially marked in history at Kool Herc & sister’s Jam at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue?
+ Music for your ears – DJ 279 is renown for his supportive role in showcasing and bringing to our ears new Hip Hop music and introducing us to artists over his years on the radio, and in particular supporting UK Hip Hop scene with his Flava of the Month nights….he will take us down memory lane through the evolution of the musical genre on the turntables…..

You will also have the opportunity to meet and greet some of the artists and photographers on the day.
